I've grown up, a lot.
Living in your own (well, kind of...lol) will do that to you. I'm starting to put my priorities in order now that I actually have to worry about making something of myself, cause the "just survive this year of high school" mentaltiy doesn't work anymore. It's not just limited to picking the right classes and so on, it's actually making sure I put in enough work to get things done right, and also about knowing what things I actually want to put that effort into. I want to graduate with a degree in engineering or medicine, and I want to do well, but also, I want to get good at guitar, really good. Not to impress anyone, but just because I'm realizing that it's something that I genuinely love, something that's become a part of my life I suppose. Also, I definately want to get as much out of college as I can, both in terms of preparing myself for my career and life after college, but also want to enjoy it so that when I'm old and stuck sitting around the house, I'll have plenty of memories to look back on, whether they're funny, ridiculous, serious, whatever; I wanna be able to think about them, and know that I've lived a full life. That's one thing I know for sure. I'm gonna do my best to actually make a difference in the world once I start working in it, but I can't live on that alone; because there's so much more to life than work. maybe that's selfish, but damn it all, that's what I'm gonna do.
yeah, this is entirely too serious in comparison with the rest of my posts, but I just felt like writing it. I know of about 2 people who might read this thing anyhow, and they're definately fine by me. lol

every night I spend with her I'm just so...happy Like tonight. we spent a few hours driving around Laurel and Burtonsville, got Chinese for dinner, went to blockbuster but didn't get anything; it sounds like nothing, but god it was fun. lol
and then there are times like last weekend, or later tonight that are just... amazing. like when you wake up and the first thing you see is the face of someone you love...*sigh*
so in other, ever so slightly more masculine news, Brittney's birthday party was last night and was pretty shweet. I can now do a rather good performance of the Smashing Pumpkin's version of "Landslide." Metallica's "Fade to Black" is quite possibly one of the shweetest songs ever. and I might be getting a full ride to UMCP. annnnnd finally, sailing is starting soon. oh hells yeah.Current Mood: loved Can you hear it?: "Iris" -Goo Goo Dolls

And so ends my rather brief stint as Lauren Blue's boyfriend.
I'm actually alright with it, though. I mean, I miss her, and I really wish we could be together, but I'm alright with just being friends. It basically took place over this past thursday and Friday, cause I needed a little time to compose my thoughts so I could tell her some stuff after we saw a movie Friday night. On the way back, we listened to the acoustic half of "In Your Honor" by the Foo Fighters. It seemed like each track that played perfectly fit the mood I felt at that time during the night, finally ending with "On the Mend" when I got home. Call it coincidental, symbolic, or plain ironic, I thought it was interesting. I guess music just plays a big part in my life. Yeah, I'll need a little while before I try dating again, but I'll recover. I think I'm always gonna have a soft spot for her, though, cause she really is awesome.
Saturday I spent with Helen and Jess helping out at the K of C Oktoberfest, which was actually rather fun and funny. Then we went back to Helen's and the three of us watched "I <3 Huckabees" which I thought was smart, interesting, and very funny, if a little odd. I got chased by Helen's little sisters, gave and received a good head massage, and then ran around Annapolis with Helen for an hour and a half drinking Chai Lattes, which are really, really good. Fun times.

This past weekend was probably the best one since the start of the school year. make that definitely. Friday, I finally got the chance to get some better picks for mah guitar, which was kinda nice, cause they make I just like 'em more. That night, I went to the MDS homecoming with my friends Mike, Brian, Helen (my date, she's just a close friend), and her friend Kaitlyn ( also my date ;) ). The whole night was a blast, and I even learned how to do some of the Foxtrot ( I think?), including the spin-and-dip part. lol Dropped the girls back off at Kaitlyn's house around 11:30, and then hung out with them until about midnight. Kaitlyn's mom makes some of the BEST crab dip that I have ever tasted. it was SO much fun.
Saturday, I got up to go play in the band at the MSJ v. Loyola football game, where I got sunburned, but it was still fun. Gotta love hanging out with the boys, even if they are fellow band nerds. lol Got home, helped my dad put up the drywall in one of the rooms, picked out a list of colleges, argued with my parents for a while about said colleges, and finally begged them to let me go to the movies, because it was Lucy's birthday, and like EVERYBODY was gonna be there, including my favoritest Puerto Rican girl like ever, whom I hadn't seen in at least a month.
Finally got out of the house at about 7:00, picked up Lauren, and met everybody at Arundel Mills, including a friend of mine from MSJ, Andrew Metzler, which was cool, cause I hadn't hung out wiht him since the summer really. We saw "The 40-Year Old Virgin" which was just....unbelievably hilarious. Drove Lauren back home, and we spent at least a half hour just driving around Sevena Park and talking. I didn't leave till I absolutely had to for curfew.
...She's awesome...Current Mood: good Can you hear it?: "Stand Inside Your Love"- the Smashing Pumpkins
